Flooding on Prior Lake decimated our clients’ lakefront home, fast-forwarding their planned tear-down project. Their spectacular site has views to both the long, open lake and a sheltered bay. Despite tight zoning constraints and no possibility of a basement, we found ways to incorporate lower-level amenities into the upper floors; including an above-grade tornado shelter, a family room, and an attic level storage room accessed by ladder in the second-floor Laundry. The open interior and second-floor guest suite is a natural gathering place for extended out-of-town family. The garage, which doubles as his work shop, is finished to the nth degree. An elevator will allow our clients to age in place in this thoroughly contemporary home.
